Membership Types and Fees
IAOA offers different kinds of membership:
INDIVIDUAL Membership
Regular: This is for individuals who are not affiliated to an Institution member of IAOA, and who do not qualify for IAOA Student membership.
Student: This is for students who are not affiliated to an Institution member of IAOA. To register as Student member, you are required to provide a proof of studentship for the current year (e.g., copy of student card, University affiliation certificate).
INSTITUTIONAL Membership
Institution: This is for institutions, with one representative. Institutions shall provide an official letter endorsing their representative. The representative needs to personally register (or renew) under the Institutional Representative membership kind after the Institution has been registered and approved as member. The representative acts for the Institution (which does not have additional voting rights) and enjoys all the benefits of personal members. Any additional person affiliated to the Institution can join the association at a reduced fee providing a certificate of affiliation. There are thus 2 additional kinds of membership: Institutional Regular and Institutional Student (with the same requirement for students as above). Individuals affiliated to an institution may register as affiliated members once their institution is an approved IAOA member.
i10-Institution: This is for institutions, with a group of 10 affiliated members (including the representative). The representative needs to personally register (or renew) under the Institutional Representative membership kind after the Institution has been registered and approved as member. The representative acts for the Institution (which does not have additional voting rights) and enjoys all the benefits of personal members. The i10 fee includes the possibility for up to 9 additional persons affiliated to the Institution to join the association for free. Institutions shall provide an official letter endorsing their representative and listing the staff to be covered by the I10 package. To activate their membership, these staff people need to personally register (or renew) under the i10-Affiliated membership kind. Beyond the 1+9 people included, any additional person affiliated to the Institution can join the association at a reduced fee providing a certificate of affiliation and using the Institutional Regular or Institutional Student membership kinds. Individuals affiliated to an institution may register as affiliated members once their institution is an approved IAOA member.
Individuals joining under any of these schemes enjoy the same IAOA membership rights and benefits.
IAOA Fees
Fees for IAOA membership are relative to a country classification which is based mainly on the United Nations’ “Human Development Index”. When registering, you are required to indicate the country where you currently live and work (not your country of origin, if different) only if you wish to benefit from fees reduced with respect to those of the Very-High classification, applied by default.
Please check your country’s classification below. If your country is not listed in the table, contact the membership officer at membership-officer@
iaoa.org for the registration fee.
Anyone enjoying a null fee (for instancei10-Affiliated members) should register as usual, proceeding all the way to the payment page to validate their registration, selecting the “cash/other” way of payment, although they will not be charged anything.

Payment
Two modes of payment are currently offered during registration:
- Bank transfer. You are warmly encouraged to choose this option if possible. IAOA’s bank account is in the SEPA euro zone. If your own account is not in the SEPA zone, please make sure all charges are paid on your side.
- Paypal. Choose this if you cannot pay by bank transfer. High charges on IAOA are incurred by Paypal payments.
There is a third mode of payment called “Cash/Other” which is to be selected for special cases and when the fee is zero.
Credit card payments are planned but not available yet. However, you can in principle choose the Paypal option and be offered to pay with credit card as Guest Checkout, that is, without a Paypal account. Unfortunately, you may experience a known Paypal behaviour which, under not fully clarified circumstances, prevents you to see the credit card payment option with Paypal. If this occurs to you, try to clear cookies and/or change browser and/or locale and/or IP.
