Benefits

Members get reductions for IAOA events, and student members have access to grants for some IAOA events.

Moreover, thanks to an agreement with IOS Press, members enjoy free access to IOS Press publications relevant to the field of ontology (see Resources page). Access is granted exclusively through the Members Area:

  • Applied Ontology – An Interdisciplinary Journal on Ontological Analysis and Conceptual Modeling
  • Proceedings of the international conference on Formal Ontology in Information Systems (FOIS)
  • Proceedings of the international conference on Formal Ontology Meets Industry (FOMI)

Members keep in touch with the association activities through the present web site (see in particular the Blog page and the Events page), and through the private IAOA members’ email list, that they can also use themselves to communicate with the whole membership. Members only receive these messages and can send messages to fellow members. This mailing list is intended for announcements; for engaging in scientific discussions, please use the Ontolog Forum instead.

Important IAOA news are also sent to the IAOA general mailing list (for members & non-members) to which anyone can register.

Members only are kept informed of the mandatory institutional IAOA news (e.g., call for participation to IAOA assemblies) through the private official email list to which they are automatically registered upon registration.

Individual members can participate in IAOA assemblies, vote on IAOA elections and participate in other ways to the community activities. See in particular the Special Interest Group page.
